Why, hello there. I am so happy to meet you!

Allow me to introduce myself. I am the new Worth1000. Is this your first time meeting the new me? We should get reacquainted then. So many things are different about me now. Come and learn more :).

Blatantly stolen from Kookaburra's thread last year which was blatantly stolen from PAC's thread the year before.
*************************************

NDAGGT stands for Non-Denominational Annual Gift Giving Thingy because calling it anything else (like "Secret Santa") might cause such offense as to bring the whole site into disrepute. That doesn't mean it isn't a perfectly normal Secret Santa operation, though, because it is.

For your chance to receive an awesome present from a fellow Worthian, simply sign up with your address and the super-secret, double-encrypted, hyper-secure system will hold onto it until the deadline, when it will be jumbled about with the others and emailed to another brave Worthian who then sends you a token of their appreciation for your fabulous existence.*

Last year's was a great success and caused the Sugar Shack to overload come mid-January when all the delayed airmail started arriving.

This will be the sixth year we've done this and it's always been a great success.

In the interests of international diplomacy, the price limit is going to be stated in McDonald's equivalents.

Your gift should not exceed the value of two medium Big Mac meals at your nearest McDonald's.

The Economist magazine noticed a while ago that the Big Mac Index is by far the best measure of local prices so that's what I've gone for. Obtaining the price may require some investigation on your part if you are a healthy living vegetarian.**

Now go sign up! How?
Send an email to NDAGGT@gmail.com
Use the following as a form:

Username:
Real world name:
email:
Street address:
City/state/province:
Postal code:
Country:
Willing to send overseas?: Y/N

Your email address will not be given to anyone else, including your gift giver. It is for communication of NDAGGT information only.

If you don't want to or can't send overseas, please be sure to note that.

The deadline is midnight 15 November (Worth time). Emails will be sent out then with the address of your recipient.

TWO CAVEATS:
1. This activity is not sponsored by Worth1000, so use at your own risk.
2. Do not sign up if you are not committed to following through***. It is not fair to the other participant who mailed a gift to not receive one in return. If you sign up and find you are not able to participate, please email NDAGGT@gmail.com as soon as possible so other arrangements can be made.

If you would like to leave a hint for your gift-giver, this would be the thread for that! Stating in this or any other thread that you want to participate does not sign you up. The only way to do that is an email to NDAGGT@gmail.com.

Yay, can't wait! :D Last year was awesome and I had such fun shopping for my recipient!

"hints" for me -

I love bats, Tim Burton-ish looking art, robots, fall colours, zombies, unicorns (my one real girly vice), any food/items from your neck of the woods that are unique or special (edit: and tasty!!!!), weird things, British things, green/orange things.
More edits because people below gave me an idea: Nothing that screams "Christmas" for me either, if possible. I'm more of a Halloween/thanksgiving person.

preserved chicken feet, dried lizards and sea slug tea on the way if I get your name :D

+ in reply to...

*eeeeeek! Perhaps I haven't thought this through...

:)

Editing, brb!

FairMagda said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 1:08:06 AM EDT

I'm in! This will be my first time taking part. Preserved chicken feet as side it sounds like fun. ;)

Thanks Q!

Edit to to add... I love coffee including fun coffee cups. Especially if they are comfy to hold. There's nothing like the feel of a warm cup of coffee in your hand on a cold morning. :) I am fond of unique small wooden boxes and prisms and would love to add to my collections. Please note: I have some food allergies so it will be best not to send food though you could send coffee if it's not flavored.

HeyDoofus said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 3:38:40 AM EDT

I'm in!

Hints:
Your own art, anything that is fun, unusual or unique to your location, confectionery that is regional (no food items that might get intercepted by Customs - we are very strict here in NZ about the importation of strange food), local souvenirs.

Pretty much anything that you as giver think I'd like :)

gabrielwings said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 7:28:10 AM EDT

This time I'll participate, too :D

I love anything that has lizards or dragons in it (drawings, sculptures, photos, stories, poems, chops, stickers - doesn't matter). My favourite colour is blue, and I totally dislike anything that's pink. I don't like weird food so much, but if it's tasty I will take it ;)
I also like weird objects that seem completely pointless (like round dice, or coins with two heads, or glow-in-the-dark lipsticks, or grow-your-own-dinosaur-kits. You get the point ;)) No kitschy things, though, please.

Hope that helped. Yay :D

Qofcheez said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 8:00:05 AM EDT

I guess I should add that I like silly stuff, and of course, anything I can show my students that'll make em drool - so local stuff that's interesting and fun is good :) ANd of course nostalgic things from back west that I can't get here is always good!

Prior favorites?
Garlic dill pickles (drooool thank you starsfallin!, red licorice (can't get it here, again thank you starsfallin), all the great stuff capriccio sent me that made my students beat me up for ownership (ie. fart in a jar and silly straws)

celticfrog said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 9:18:29 AM EDT

I like frogs, but I particularly like stuff that comes from the giver's own hands (or camera etc.). I like odd food as well, especially if it is regional.

mennufer said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 1:27:24 PM EDT

Okay, y'all might not know this about me, but I like rodents. Crafty things are neat, too. Also, if you're from outside the US, I would love some postage stamps - old, new, used, whatever.

What I don't want are food and things that scream "CHRISTMAS". Thank you.

PaulterA said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 1:46:35 PM EDT

I'm in! I'm a freak for anything even mildly related to music, I like turtles, art and long walks on the...oh wait. Just the turtles, music and art. Something interesting from your neck of the woods would be awesome too.

Xaromir said 3 weeks ago 11/1/2009 1:47:51 PM EDT

I missed it last year, but i will be in this year.

Does anyone mind posting the threads from the past NDAGGTs?
It was a lot of fun looking through those.

I love surprises so i don't tell you much.
There isn't much that can go wrong actually,
but t-shirts maybe should be avoided since i'm a very big guy.
Local stuff is always interesting.

Onanymous said 3 weeks ago 11/2/2009 2:25:25 AM EDT

It's almost like you read my mind by starting this thread, Q :D

Ok, let's see:

Your own art, weird and wonderful fridge magnets, local crafty things or jewelery, or local tasty delicacies.

(If you're British and can send me Jaffa Cakes, I will love you. If you're Dutch and can send me Stroopwafels, I will love you even more.)

SnowCrasher said 3 weeks ago 11/2/2009 4:53:37 AM EDT

I like local specialties, especially food items, and I collect lapel pins :)

purplefrog said 3 weeks ago 11/2/2009 6:01:10 AM EDT

Hints... :)
I like frogs (who would've guessed?!?!?)...
Anything unique and interesting from your region would be awesome...
Yummy recipes from *insert your country/region here* would go down well too :P (note - must be tried and tested, haha)
Stuff that's handmade and had time and effort and thought go into it is always special, no matter what it is...

..Or, a surprise!!! :)

flyingcowpat said 3 weeks ago 11/2/2009 9:53:38 AM EDT

yay! I'm in again, this was one of my favorite things from being on Worth :)

hints: erm, i'l love anything craft related, candy of any kind, wedding related, possibly cow related (but dont go overboard, i'm trying to grow that out!) but will be happy with anything local, kooky or classy!
Edit to add: I'm really into vintage, antiquey and sewing too, together or seperate, but happy with anything!

egonlinden said 3 weeks ago 11/3/2009 3:05:53 PM EDT

Just a little bump in the right direction.

Global Council Mister_IQ said 3 weeks ago 11/3/2009 4:18:59 PM EDT

This is my first time ever in an NDAGGT. I'm all a-quiver with anticipation.

Tacky, fun, weird, ethnic/national, food, knickknacks. You name it, I'm game.

firebox said 3 weeks ago 11/3/2009 4:53:39 PM EDT

I will do it Ndaggt!

I would love a picture from the sender signed, or a handmade crafty thingy, especilly something for my keychain or that I could attach to my iphone case, as I am always losing both of them.

or a surprise.

ThreeProngs said 3 weeks ago 11/3/2009 5:57:39 PM EDT

Copied and pasted directly from last years thread:

I collect decks of cards, I especially love, weird decks, like odd shapes or textures or pictures. And of course I also love regional decks of cards, from wherever you may be from.

I also love small or at least foldable packages that will fit in my mailbox, that is kinda small. Living in Brooklyn, for some reason, mail goes missing fairly often, especially big packages that dont fit in the mailbox.

chrisbremen said 3 weeks ago 11/3/2009 6:09:20 PM EDT

Heck yes, I am so in.

philgtaylor said 2 weeks ago 11/3/2009 9:51:16 PM EDT

I am in, but I am still waiting for last years to arrive...

Buffmufin said 2 weeks ago 11/3/2009 10:09:49 PM EDT

Last year's was a lot of fun....... I'm in again!!!

I'm happy to receive fun and interesting things, foods (hold the chicken feet), photos, crafts, well...pretty much anything so long as it's not Christmas-related (I don't celebrate).

purplefrog said 2 weeks ago 11/3/2009 10:28:25 PM EDT

Oh and yes, nothing that screams Christmas... :)
